About SmartShip

SmartShip – A Data Analytics Decision Support and Circular Economy-Based Multi-Layer Optimisation Platform for Ships is a Horizon 2020 Marie Skłodowska-Curie project focused on improving energy efficiency, fuel consumption, and emissions management in the maritime sector. The project develops a holistic ICT-enabled framework combining IoT sensors, data analytics, optimisation algorithms, and cloud technologies to support intelligent vessel management across the entire lifecycle of ships. By integrating circular economy principles with advanced digital technologies, SmartShip aims to help shipping companies reduce environmental impact, improve operational efficiency, and support compliance with maritime environmental regulations.

The project focuses on:

Developing a cloud-based system that collects and analyses real-time data from ships to optimise operational performance.
Using advanced analytics and optimisation tools to reduce fuel consumption and support compliance with environmental regulations.
Applying circular economy principles to vessel management, maintenance, and lifecycle optimisation.
Promoting the adoption of IoT technologies, data analytics, and decision-support systems in maritime operations.
