   About Shared Green Deal

SHARED GREEN DEAL is a European initiative that strengthens the social foundations of the Green Deal by focusing on community engagement, behavioural change and inclusive policy design. The project brings together universities, NGOs and local authorities to run real-world experiments and learning actions across themes such as clean energy, circular economy, mobility, buildings and biodiversity. By supporting fair and people-centred transitions, SHARED GREEN DEAL helps accelerate Europe’s move toward a more sustainable and socially resilient future.

SHARED GREEN DEAL Project Focus

Accelerate Fair Green Transitions

Local communities, public organisations and citizens gain practical ways to adopt sustainable behaviours, ensuring the Green Deal delivers benefits for everyone.

Empower Citizens and Professionals

Participatory experiments and learning processes strengthen people’s ability to engage with climate, energy, mobility and circular economy challenges in informed and meaningful ways.

Improve Policy Effectiveness

Evidence from 24 real-world social experiments helps policymakers design initiatives that match how people actually live, behave and make decisions, reducing resistance and increasing uptake.

Strengthen Social Inclusion

Vulnerable groups are placed at the centre of engagement activities, ensuring that transitions are equitable and that no community is left behind.

Build Capacity Across Europe

A long-term Green Deal network connects municipalities, NGOs, researchers and practitioners, expanding knowledge-sharing and supporting continuous improvement.

Make Knowledge Accessible

Toolkits, policy trackers, databases and training formats translate complex research into accessible resources that help organisations take action on the social and cultural dimensions of sustainability.

Ensure Long-Term Impact

The project’s findings and networks extend beyond the funding period, supporting durable cultural, behavioural and organisational change throughout Europe.

Enable Change That Lasts Beyond the Project

Strategic learning, capacity building and the sustained network ensure that behavioural and cultural change continues long after the project ends.
