About CERES

CERES – Circular Economy innovation ecosystems REdesigning Skills is a European Erasmus+ project designed to support the transition toward a sustainable and digitally enabled circular economy. The initiative focuses on redefining the skills and competencies required to integrate circular economy principles within Industry 4.0 environments, strengthening collaboration between education, industry, and innovation ecosystems.

The project focuses on:

Developing innovative educational programmes and learning pathways that equip students and professionals with the knowledge and competencies needed to implement circular economy strategies in modern industries.
Leveraging digital technologies, data systems, and advanced manufacturing capabilities to support sustainable supply chains, circular business models, and new forms of entrepreneurship.
Establishing the Circular Economy Digital Innovation Hub (CE-DIH) to connect stakeholders and provide services, expertise, and knowledge supporting circular transformation across sectors.
Strengthening collaboration between universities, research institutions, enterprises, and policymakers to identify emerging skills needs and accelerate Europe’s sustainable transition.

Redesign Circular Economy Skills Frameworks

Develop new competencies and skills frameworks that integrate circular economy principles with Industry 4.0 technologies, addressing emerging labour market needs.

Strengthen Education–Industry Collaboration

Facilitate partnerships between education providers, enterprises, and innovation ecosystems to co-design training programmes and address real industry challenges.

Develop Innovative Education and Training Programmes

Create and implement new curricula, courses, and learning resources for higher education and vocational training that support circular and sustainable business practices.

Promote Circular Innovation and Entrepreneurship

Encourage entrepreneurial thinking, experimentation, and innovation through initiatives such as hackathons, digital learning activities, and collaborative projects.

Establish the Circular Economy Digital Innovation Hub (CE-DIH)

Build a collaborative platform connecting universities, industry, and innovation actors to provide knowledge, services, and tools that accelerate the circular transition.

Support Europe’s Green and Digital Transition Training

Contribute to Europe’s sustainability goals by preparing professionals capable of driving circular transformation across sectors such as waste management, textiles, renewable energy, and manufacturing.

Role of EPBS in CERES

Curriculum and Skills Development

Contribute to the design of innovative educational programmes and learning modules integrating circular economy principles, digital technologies, and sustainable business practices.

Research and Knowledge Transfer

Support the identification of emerging circular economy skills needs and translate research insights into practical training resources and educational content.

Industry and Innovation Engagement

Facilitate collaboration between academia, industry partners, and innovation ecosystems to ensure that project outcomes respond to real market and societal challenges.

Dissemination and Impact

Lead communication, dissemination, and stakeholder engagement activities to maximise the visibility, adoption, and long-term impact of the CERES project across Europe.
